A great conquest for fighting against ageism was achieved on 13 April 2023 in Portugal. The word “idadismo” (ageism) was finally inserted into the dictionary and defined as an “attitude of discrimination and prejudice based on age”.
As much as there was already a discussion about this type of prejudice, the recognition and inclusion of the word “idadismo” generates a great impact on society, making discrimination visible, and being an important way to combat it.
