The conference “Let’s talk about ageing” took place on 11 and 12 November in Porto, Portugal. On 12 November, Juliana Louceiro from SHINE 2Europe, the Portuguese partner of the Smart Against Ageism project, presented the project. It stands as an example of how non-formal education can help to change society, make it more inclusive and respect the differences between people. The project was presented within the panel “Ageing in the Context of Cities”.
Juliana also presented the DESIRE project, in which SHINE is also involved. It aims to provide professionals from the construction industry and the furnishing sector with the tools and skills to apply D4All methods as an integral part of construction processes. This is to create age-friendly housing as a contribution to the well-being and autonomy of older adults or people in need of care at home.
This conference brought together hundreds of professionals, researchers and students in a mixed format to discuss different issues related to ageing and to share good practices and possible future steps.
It was definitely a good opportunity to show what we have done so far in the SAA project and what our plans are for the future.
