Juliana Louceiro
At the International Scientific Conference Gerontological Days 2022, Juliana Lucero, from SHINE 2Europe, presented the Smart Against Ageism project. This conference took place on 6 and 7 October, at the University of Debrecen in Hungary, in a hybrid format.
In this presentation, the main objectives of the SAA project were focused, and the main conclusions of the Portuguese National Report were presented. Furthermore, data regarding ageing and ageism in the country and the key aspects highlighted by older citizens interviewed within the project activities were presented. The presentation was based on a paper that will be published in the Conference proceedings, authored by Carina Dantas, Juliana Louceiro and Natália Machado and that highlights that there is still a long way to go in terms of inclusion and non-discrimination of older adults. Namely, it is important to make awareness-raising campaigns about ageism (a name that most people do not recognise). The results of the National Report demonstrate the need for our project which also aims to raise awareness about this phenomenon.
